Rascal Flatts are trying out a new model for releasing music. The trio's new single, “Back To Life,” won't necessarily be part of a traditional studio album, but rather single by single, according to Billboard. They're also working on a bunch of cover songs that will also be released one at a time.
Jay DeMarcus told Taste of Country, “I think our years of cutting full-length albums are on hold right now . . . We may do a country cover batch, and we may do a hair metal band batch of songs . . . kind of not have any parameters and worry about the next three-and-a-half minutes on the radio. It's kind of fun and liberating.”
Rascal Flatts have reportedly already recorded covers of Huey Lewis and the News, Foreigner and Kenny Loggins. A Brian McKnight cover is also in the works, possibly featuring McKnight himself.
