Jason Aldean takes the top spot on the Billboard Country Airplay for a second week and claims this week's Number One position on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles chart with his 21st career Number One single, “Drowns the Whiskey” featuring Miranda Lambert. The song follows Jason's platinum-selling chart-topper, “You Make It Easy.”
Jason tells us he had been keeping his ears open for another song to do with Miranda and this had her name written all over it. “Miranda, I'd been looking for something to do with her for a while because we had cut a song on my second album called 'Grown Woman' that she had come in and sang backgrounds on, and I just always thought our voices sounded really good together. They blended really well and so I'd kind of been looking for something to do with her anyway and so I sent her that song. It was just an idea that I had. The song wasn't written as a duet or anything but I just thought she would sound great on it cause it's a little more on the traditional side, which she tends to lean toward a little bit, and so I sent it and she jumped on it and came in and you heard the rest. I had already sung my part. She came in and did her part and it was . . . it just took what I already thought was a great song and made it even better.”
Jason will return to his hometown for his third Concert For The Kids charity event on September 6th at Macon's Coliseum that will once again benefit Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital, Navicent Health.
